For over 20 years, my colleagues and I have cared for thousands of people with back pain.
Many people who have visited me in my medical practice have experienced tremendous improvement in function and ability to enjoy activities of daily living. Some are now completely pain-free; others have learned to combine treatment and exercise to have a more fulfilling, normal way of life. This website has been built to provide you with current, useful information. In addition, I am pleased to announce the availability of my new book, Back in Control! - 1) Correctly diagnose your problem:
- Know how your back works and why it hurts. Positively identify the type of pain that is ruining your life by understanding back mechanics.
- 2) Become an educated consumer:
- Know which treatments-from both mainstream and complementary medicine-are currently available, safe, and recommended to help back pain. From medicine to exercise and nutrition, acupuncture, massage, spinal manipulation, find out what is available and what works best for you.
- 3) Combine the diagnosis with treatment:
- As many of my patients have learned, it's important to try different things - each patient responds differently to treatments, exercises and medicines. If your case is one where self-treatment does not improve your overall well-being, you can work with your doctor to achieve a more pain-free life.
